Although an unassuming man, Edgar Cayce has been recognized as being America's premier psychic.  Born in Selma, Alabama in 1877, he grew up, living his early life in the deep South before being prompted by the readings later in life to move to Virginia Beach, Virginia.

For years, people sought his help when traditional medical help offered no hope, because of his ability to "see", describe, diagnose, and outline treatments for physical health problems through psychic readings all done while in an unconscious trance.

Working with M.D.'s and Osteopaths, sometimes specifically mentioned in the readings, Edgar Cayce was able to correctly diagnose the ailment or disease, identify it's cause, and offer procedures or remedies for treatment.  The medical practitioner would then administer the treatment, procedure or medicine.  Many of these procedures and medications have gone on to become part of modern medicine and the current holistic health movement.  In fact to many people, Edgar Cayce is recognized as the father of Holistic Medicine.

Those that came for readings also posed questions on many other diverse subjects, besides their questions covering the body's health and care.  The readings' subjects ranged from the stock market to political subjects, earth changes to spirituality, the future, past lives, ancient Egypt, Atlantis, information for the police, birth, death, Jesus Christ, God, mankind's role in the universe, astrology, how to develop psychic ability, living a healthy lifestyle, and the World Wars.  The list of subjects goes on and on coming from the over 14,400 verbatim documented readings, not counting the estimated hundreds given before the readings became documented.

Edgar's own strong religious beliefs led him to read the Bible completely through once for every year of his life - over 65 times by the time of his death in 1945.  A common theme through many of the psychic readings seemed to be a spiritual foundation, at times providing biblical principals and how we may apply them to our daily life.  This principal theme ran through both Edgar's life and the psychic readings, and was aimed at his trying to help in whatever way he could, whether physically, psychically, emotionally, spiritually and even financially.  There was a common thread of hope in the readings with a purpose of helping each person to come to know themselves as children of God, being here on Earth seeking to return to God by following the example that Christ has put before us.
